Round The Table

Round The Table

I bring to the table

My friends my family

The heart of my fields

Bounty to share

Coffee flows love

Of the company

Round the kitchen table

Souls bared and open

Dinner wakens senses

Plates pass to table

A feast moves to comfort

Friends and family

Round the table

Angels Touch The Sky

Angels Touch The Sky

Where has all the time gone

Our kids have moved on

My hair is no longer grey

And you my sweet evening rose

Have followed my twisted path

To this place in time

Our feet have made

Trails through life

Paths of simple times

Roads of great trespass

Mountain hills difficult

Speed bumps in life

Lights at the end of tunnels

Straight through to happiness

Not one regret

In my life with you

I’ll meet you in that place

Where the angels touch the sky

Run For The Horizon

Run For The Horizon

Naked and fighting

I was born to this world

My feet hit the floor

I made a run for the horizon

Trouble found me

I never backed away

No one got close

Naked and fighting

I was born to this world

My feet hit the floor

I made a run for the horizon

School was a bore

I left it for hard work

Never content with jobs

Naked and fighting

I was born to this world

My feet hit the floor

I made a run for the horizon

Working for myself

I found my way

Then she found me

Naked and fighting

I was born to this world

My feet hit the ground

I made a run for the horizon no more

All things changed

I found I could love

Then there were three

Naked and fighting

She was born to this world

Her feet hit the ground

She made a run for the horizon

Soon we were more

I had passed my legacy

But there was more

Naked and fighting

They were born to this world

Their feet hit the ground

All made a run for the horizon

My Harley was freedom

And I rode the road wild

Oats were sowed away from home

Naked and fighting

I was born to this world

My feet hit the ground

I made a run for the horizon

While away with another

I lost it all

My family my love gone

Naked and fighting

I gave myself to the world

My feet on the ground

I made a run for the horizon

Horses Decree

ROBERT THE ROAD

Robert was born

A son of a wanderer

Child of the night

Stole for his life

To earn his keep

Street imp and scamp

Ladies in his life

Around the red light

His mother to daisies

Knife in hand

Money to pocket

Drunk to the patch

Constable to trail

Life on the run

Death on the corner

Horse under saddle

Sixteen in the summer

Hooves to the road

Banging at night

Flashing behind

Balls in the air

Ground to face

Blood on the air

Dried on the road

Jail for first meal

Sweating to the robe

Swinging the sunset

Sixteen never seen

Childhoods end

Bask In The Light

I love your face in the morning

I always have and will

With the day light

Bathing your features

Your eyelids

As they hold that look just for me

Your nose

As life breathes across my skin

Your lips

As they contain that smile made for me

Your ears

As they listen for my stirring from sleep

Sleep a little longer

As I bask in your light

Prairie Walk

Hurry up and go

Lets do the prairie walk

We met at the dance

Did the foolish young thing

We married in a week

Worked our humps

To the bone

Put away some bacon

Made the kids

Moved to the prairie

Our old farmhouse

Cows in pasture

Golden grass’ for miles

An ol Missy Fergy under cover

The kids moved on

Making bacon themselves

Ya Hoo we’re on our own

With Gran’kids we can send home

Being yuppies of stature

We did a makeover

Calico Kitchens and straw walls

Then with a 25 year investment

I caught you rolling in the hay

On our living room floor

With the makeover queen

A fine young Martha wannabe

You tell me it’s not the first

Well tip my cow

Damn this flat land

I can still see your butt leaving

A month after you left

Walking out on the prairie

Hurry up and go

Lets do that prairie walk

That is what I get for living on the prairie

Flatlander wannabe man on man…

You can see a dog

30 days after it runs away

I’m moving to a mountain

Now I am Prairie Walking
